The surface created by massing of lines means assembled lines created with the plant materials without leaves. You can combine the lines of gathered materials, but do not always look alike and with subtle variations in color, shape and texture.I used Hosta flower stems stripped off all the leaves and corn flowers without petals,which have beautiful straight lines. White Mum accentuated the whole composition.(8-03-2010)
