The Second Annual Summer Ikebana Exhibition was displayed August22-25 at Shofuso, Japanese House in Farimount Park Philadelphia, the exhibit consist of 17 arrangements placed throughout the house and garden, and arranged by members of Ikebana International Philadelphia Chapter 71.   This year Ms. Lin got three assignments, the above pictures show three arrangements and their artists(8-22-13)

Last year I became the member of Ikebana International Philadelphia Chapter 71 and this year I have the opportunity to participate in chapter exhibitions at the Japanese House in Farimount Park. I learned a lot from this event.  Ikebana at Shofuso enhances the traditional Japanese values and each arrangement was so pretty embraces truth, goodness and beauty. (8-22-13)

Two artists
 Ikebana Exhibition was held at Shofuso Japanese House in Fairmount Park  Philadelphia on August 22 through August 25.  I had honor to participate the event and I want expressed my thanks to my Sensei Ms. Lin,who has taught me flower arrangement for five years and my classmate June Wu for her help, Grazynka Shaarani help us to set up agendas and contact with Ikebana Philadelphia Chapter, without their support this mission unable to complete.  My assignment was to arrange at kitchen, one in the sink another one at corner of the other side of wall.  Same materials has been used to enhance its effect.  Thank you.(8-22-13)

Vines

Wisteria vines were from my teacher's garden. Mary gave me yellow daisies with brown base,  just perfect to match my triangle container. Although it was not my original material ,but I like it just the same.  (7-16-13)

Vertical Composition(Moribana)

Material: Calla lily,yellow hammer, hydrangea,stokes'aster














We repeated this composition in Moribana.Three beautiful stems upward with their natural lines vertically arranged. There is no rule as to the ratio between length and width. The bottom picture  shows where my flowers came from.(7-16-13)

Free arrangement

At ceramic class, I finished this pond like 17 1/2" x 8" big container.  Iris,yucca leaves were arranged in the pond with one daylily standing out which make the arrangement more interesting.  Driftwood  was added beside the pond to extend the whole arrangement. (7-2-13)

This was my small objects and scale to exercise this assignment. The large arrangement on 8x5 ft table should view from any angles and bird's -eye view.  A 5 ft long skin from tree was found in the woods last year which will be main object of this arrangement.(7-2-13)

 June 26-28, 2013   at Historic House of Pearl S Buck. Birthday Festival and Grand Opening of Her Restored National Historic House and Award-Winning Gardens were held  in honor of  Pulitzer and Noble prize Author and Humanitarian to celebrate the  121st birthday. Ikebana International Philadelphia Charter participated in this special event.  Artist ; Ann Perry, Meei-Huey Lin, June Wu and Lititia Chen.  My Sensei Ms. Meei-Huey Lin and her senior student June Wu created a huge artistic arrangement on the 8 x 5 ft table, under field like tent. And we were very grateful had a chance to help for playing a part of it. (6-26-13)
